My approach, experience and qualifications

I am a qualified psychotherapist and registered member of the BACP. I have a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and have previous experience of working in the NHS and with charities such as Kingston Women’s Centre and the Wimbledon Guild.

I believe the difficult thoughts and feelings we experience are not failings but normal human responses to distress. We are all capable of growth and change, given the right conditions, and supportive, compassionate, non-judgemental relationships can help us to heal and flourish.

I offer long term and short term counselling for adult individuals. My integrative training allows me to draw from a toolbox of skills and modalities so I can adapt my therapeutic approach to what will best suit your needs. I use humanistic and psychodynamic theories to explore with you the impact of past experiences on your present issues. I may also utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to suggest strategies to assist with behavioural change. We will find ways to move forward that make sense to you and enhance your wellbeing.

I came to counselling after a career in law, so I have a particular understanding of the stresses of professional life and can help with the anxiety, overwhelm and even dread, that a high pressure job can create.

My legal training underpins my commitment to providing a creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow their code of ethics. I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. I am a trauma informed practitioner and will therefore ensure that you feel physically and emotionally safe in sessions. I invest in regular ongoing training as part of my continuous professional development (CPD) and aim to stay informed and engaged with the latest research.

I have a specialist interest in the psychological impact of the Boarding School experience and have conducted research into this area.
